Cats can get fleas in several ways, as these tiny parasites are quite adept at finding their way onto your pet. Here are the most common ways cats can get fleas:

Contact with Other Animals: The most common way cats get fleas is by coming into contact with other animals, especially other pets that may already have fleas. If your cat interacts with another cat, dog, or wildlife that has fleas, they can easily catch them through direct contact or shared spaces.

Outdoor Environment: Fleas are commonly found in outdoor areas like gardens, parks, or even areas with tall grass. If your cat spends time outdoors, they’re at higher risk of picking up fleas from the environment. Fleas can jump onto your cat from the ground or from vegetation.

Fleas in the Home: Fleas can also be brought into your home by you, especially if you or other pets have been outside. Flea eggs, larvae, or adult fleas can hitch a ride on your clothing, shoes, or even furniture, and once in the home, they can infest your cat.

Flea Eggs and Larvae: Fleas can lay eggs in carpets, bedding, and other soft furnishings. The eggs can hatch into larvae, and when they become adult fleas, they can jump onto your cat when they come into contact with the infested areas.

Wildlife and Stray Animals: If your cat encounters wildlife like raccoons, squirrels, or even stray animals that carry fleas, there’s a chance they could catch fleas. Even if your cat is mostly indoors, any exposure to wildlife could lead to flea transmission.
